Your connection is terrible. Use it.

Hold the mouse button and you lag. The world freezes, and you keep moving. Let go and the server decides: close enough and it believes you, too far and it puts you back where it last saw you.

The server keeps a copy of you while you are gone. It carries on the way you were going. It stands where you left it. It can stand on things for you, it can fall for you, and when it dies, the server believes it.

Fourteen rooms of doors that shut too fast, bridges that drop packets, enemies drawn where they were a moment ago, belts, plates and switches. Every glitch on screen is a rule, and every rule is a way out.

It looks like a broken online game at first. Stay a minute.

CONTROLS

WASD: move

Space: jump

Hold left click: lag

R: back to the last safe spot

P: pause and options (music, sound, mouse speed, invert Y, camera)

MADE FROM SCRATCH

Engine: HiveEngine, my own, written in C++ from the renderer up.

Game, level design, 3D models, textures, sound effects and music: made for this jam.

Look: PS1 style on purpose, low resolution, five bits a channel, a picture that tears when you lag.

Made for the Garbage Jam, theme "Out of Time".

NOTES

Plays in the browser. WebGPU when your browser has it, WebGL 2 otherwise.

Go fullscreen first: clicking to play takes the mouse cursor.
